Terms of service & acceptable use
Last updated: 25 October 2026
Ployin hosts static websites and gives them a small backend. It is free to use. By creating an account or deploying a site you agree to these terms. They are short on purpose; please read them.
What you may not host
Don't use Ployin for anything illegal or harmful. In particular, no:
- Phishing or impersonation: pages that pretend to be a bank, a login page or another service, person or brand to trick people.
- Malware: viruses, spyware, exploit kits, or links that push them; cryptocurrency miners running in visitors' browsers.
- Scams and fraud: fake shops, investment or giveaway scams, fake support pages.
- Sexual content involving minors, ever. We report it to the authorities.
- Harassment, threats or hate, and the publication of other people's private information.
- Content you have no right to share: pirated software, films or music; other people's copyrighted work or trademarks used without permission.
- Spam: pages made for spam campaigns or search-engine manipulation.
- Abuse of the service: using it as a file dump or CDN for other sites, attacking it or other systems, or getting around the limits (for example with many accounts).
What we do about it
We may suspend a site (visitors then see a notice instead of it), remove it, or close an account that breaks these rules, without warning when the harm is serious. If you think we got it wrong, tell us.
Seen something that breaks these rules on a Ployin site? Report it. A report keeps the address it came from and, if you give one, a way to reach you.
Your content
What you deploy stays yours. You let us store it and serve it to visitors, which is the point of the service. You are responsible for it, and for the data your site collects from its visitors through the backend.
Custom domains
- Only connect a domain you own or are allowed to use. We check its DNS before serving it.
- We get a free certificate for it from Let's Encrypt. Certificates are published in public Certificate Transparency logs, so the domain name becomes public.
- Remove the domain from your project, or point it elsewhere, and we stop serving it.
The service
- Ployin is provided as is, without warranties. We try hard to keep it running and your data safe (it is backed up every night; backups are kept for up to 30 days, also on a second machine), but we can't promise it will never be down or never lose data. Keep your own copy of anything important; you can download every deployment.
- There are limits, such as the size of a deploy and the number of projects per account; they are listed in the docs and may change.
- To close your account, tear down your projects (in the dashboard or with
ployin teardown), then ask us to delete the account and any backend data through the contact form. Deleted data can stay in backups until they expire, up to 30 days. - We may change or end the service. If we shut it down, we will give notice so you can download your sites.
Privacy
- For your account we keep your email address and a hash of your password.
- IP addresses are used to limit sign-ups and requests, stored with abuse reports, and may appear in our server logs, which are rotated away over time. We use them for security and to fight abuse.
- Traffic to sites on ployin.dev passes through Cloudflare, which protects and caches it and sees the requests it carries.
- Data your site stores through the backend (its users, documents and files) belongs to your site; you decide what it collects and you answer to its visitors for it. We store it for you and don't use it for anything else. Tearing down a project removes its sites, not this data; delete it through the backend, or ask us to.
- The dashboard keeps you signed in with your browser's local storage. There are no ads and no third-party trackers.
- We don't sell your data or share it, except when the law requires it.
Changes
We may update these terms; the date at the top tells you when. If a change matters, we will say so on the site. Using Ployin after a change means you accept it.
